Advance Investments Limited chosen fund raising initiative for 2024 is: Weʼre raising £10,000 to Help Buy A New Scanner For The Planned Investigation Unit At Derriford Hospital, Plymouth.
Having been a tad poorly for a while, through sheer determination and support by family and friends I have finally and incredibly been listed for a liver transplant!
Nobody knows when this will happen but it is a long and dangerous process. In the meantime I have my 10-10-10 , a day in hospital every 10 days for 10 hours to drain 10 litres of fluid from my abdomen!! That’s 10 kilos each time.
Putting in a drain each time using an 8 inch needle to site the drain is extremely painful and needs to be directed using an Ultra Sound scanner to avoid blood vessels etc.
The liver team has been waiting to replace an outdated scanner for 4 years!
